The League Treatment Center was founded in 1953 as the first day treatment center and school in the nation to provide an alternative to institutionalization for children and adults with autism and severe developmental disabilities.  Our day treatment, day habilitation and education programs are focused on the individual and offer the support and structure necessary to modify behavioral and psychiatric difficulties and maximize each person’s potential.  Interdisciplinary clinical services include psychiatric, psychology, social work, nursing and educational services, as well as counseling, speech, physical and occupational therapies.

The League Treatment Center’s mission is to discover and nurture each child and adult’s strengths and abilities.  Every aspect of our programming reflects the unshakable belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to succeed in school, in program, in the community and in life.

The League Treatment Center is a licensed Medicaid provider of Mental Health services.  Our programs are certified and funded by the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, the New York State Office of Mental Health, the New York State Department of Education, the New York City Department of Education and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Our dedicated and qualified staff members, including experienced medical and clinical professionals, provide a diverse range of services that impart each individual in our care and their families with opportunities and dignity.
